Tell us more…
Described as ‘Birchbox for books’, Reading In Heels was launched last year by the team behind lifestyle website Running In Heels. Their mission was simple: to put together a hit list of the latest and best contemporary fiction and send copies out to subscribers once a month. No crime, no chick-lit, just modern page-turners that busy women actually want to get stuck into.
First up, you’ll receive a handpicked paperback rather than a weighty hardback – perfect for commuting or taking on holiday. The boxes so far have been rich with female writers – previous works have included the likes of Elizabeth Day’s The Party, The Girls by Emma Cline, Swing Time by Zadie Smith and All Grown Up by Jami Attenburg. And alongside books, the monthly box also contains a selection of three to four beauty and lifestyle treats for you to enjoy while you read – think mini Diptyque candles, Raw Halo chocolate bars, Su-Man facemasks and Pukka teabags. As its founders say, Reading In Heels is all about indulging in a bit of ‘me-time’.
And it’s also a book club?
Yes – and that’s our favourite bit. When you sign up, you’ll gain access to the members area, which acts like a book club. Only this way, there’s no set-in-stone deadline for finishing the book and no one needs to organise a physical get-together. Instead, readers rate and review each book online and swap their opinions with other subscribers. This area also offers critical reviews, video content and articles about each book and author.
Each month’s box includes one paperback and three to four luxury lifestyle products, and costs £17.20 (including P&P).
